If you'd allow me to break the fourth wall for a moment (if that makes sense) ...
As I've operated The Recess Bell over the past couple of years, there have been many project ideas that have reached my desk -- having either been thought up by myself or brought to me by another creative. Some ideas don't make it any further past that point, admittedly. Most projects do make it onto the platform in some form or fashion after some tweaking & deliberation.
But then, there are some ideas that immediately become high priority right from the pitch. And this is exactly what took place with Anaya Isaacs & Politickin'.
As I write this now on the first day of October 2024, we the American people are now exactly 5 weeks away from Election Day, taking place on November 5th. It's a presidential election year, and this season has had no shortage of headlines, drama, curveballs, controversy, and... even some assassination attempts.
It all can be so much to process & handle at times. No one is as big a news junkie as me, but even I find myself having to wean off the constant stream of heavy hitting reports.
Part of that is why Politickin' was such a strong prospect to me. If there's anything The Recess Bell has taught me, it's that creativity, as well as wit & humor, make everything better.
Consider this your 'Gen Z' political talk show, as I say that in the most complimentary manner. The aforementioned Anaya Isaacs will be the brains behind the operation, helping guide you through the thick, fuzzy, and sometimes dark cloud that American politics can be.
SIDE NOTE: So, when this brilliant idea began the process in becoming a living, breathing, tangible project, I made a logo for it that I thought was just phenomenal. See it here:
However, it was later brought to my attention that the bug featured in the logo was not actually a tick -- but... something else. Another species of bug, I don't know. Whoops. I never claimed to be an entomologist, just a business owner. Whatever.
We filmed an entire show with that incorrect logo, though, so if you happen to be a bug aficionado... relax. I fixed it after the fact! We put the "tick" in Politickin' -- albeit a little late.
Politickin' logo 2.0.
